This is handy tool to have on your gun cart or the stage you are RO’ing for resetting poppers. At the end of the day, your back will thank you.
All You Need
¾” X 4’ Dowell
3” Bicycle Hook
Super Magnets (Optional)
1” Hose Clamp (Optional)
3/8” Drill Bit
¾” Paddle Bit
Step 1: Drill the Holes
Drill a 3/8” hole in one end of the dowel about 2.5” deep
Drill a ¾” “countersink” in the other end about ¾” deep. I used the round ¾” magnets, so the hole was the depth of the 3 magnets.
Step 2: Screw in Bicycle Hook
Screw the Bike Hook in the 3/8” hole. Add the hose clamp to prevent splitting and for added strength
Step 3: Glue Magazine Magnets
Using a strong glue, glue the super magnets in the other end of the dowel. These magnets allow you to pick up magazines.
Step 4: Paint or Varnish
For protection paint or stain as desired. Add bicycle grips, grip tape, camo, graphics etc as desired.
Using the Popper Picker
For hinged steel, hook the bicycle hook over the shoulder of the popper and lift into position.
For unhinged poppers, use your foot to brace the end and lift up the popper. Note: It is best to have a 2x4 piece of wood behind the popper to keep the popper from lying flat on the ground.
Add a paint can holder or mechanism to paint the steel after resetting.
Turn the Popper Picker into a selfie stick by adding a camera mount
Add a brass picker
Add a target patcher or tape dispenser.
