ICORE - The International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts.
The Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club hosts an ICORE competition on the third Saturday of each month.
ICORE is a revolver-only action shooting sport combing the elements of the Bianchi Cup, IPSC, and the Steel Challenge into a fun experience. Paper targets are used in conjunction with falling and stationary steel plates resulting in challenging courses of fire.
We normally have 5 stages. Expect to shoot anywhere from 18 to 30 rounds per stage, so bring about 150 rounds of ammo. We occasionally will have a special or “fun” stage that is optional. It could be a “BUG” (or back up gun) stage or one just for .22LR revolvers. The optional stages will be posted on the website and on the Facebook announcements. Any optional stage will be included in the fee for the match.
What is necessary to shoot these matches? There are three gun divisions that cover all modern revolvers. These are Open, Limited, and Classic. The minimum caliber is .32 Magnum or greater. You’ll need a holster that covers the trigger guard area and attaches so that the grip is no lower than your belt. Your ammo holders must also attach to the belt. You should have a minimum of 4 speed loading devices. Scoring is based on time, including time added or subtracted per the scoring rules.
If you are new to this sport, we’ll team you up with experienced shooters who will be more than happy to guide you through the match. Come join us for a fun and relaxing match.
The rulebook can be found at www.icore.org. Don’t worry, it’s not a large book.
